Q. Who are Soccer Advisors and how can I contact them?
A.  A list of Advisors and their contact information can be viewed on our website under the Advisors link.

Q. What type of soccer can Greater Hunt County Soccer Association offer?
A.  The Greater Hunt County Soccer Association offers Recreational Leagues for Children Under 4 to Under 19. The GHCSA also allows for PAL or Select League participation through registrar.

Q. How can I register?
A.  You can register online by going to the Registration link. You can register in person at the local YMCA, 1915 Stanford Street, Greenville, Texas 75401. YMCA office hours and map are listed above.

Q. When will the Fall 2011 season begin?
A.  Games will begin on September 10th and run through November 5th.  The season consists of a guaranteed 8 games most of which should be played on Saturdays. There may be a few weekday games if needed.

Q. Is my child old enough to play?
A.  A player must be 3 years old by July 31st, 2008 to play with YMCA for the Fall 2011 & Spring 2012 seasons. (Age Chart)

Q. How is my child placed on a team?
A.  Players are randomly drafted onto teams based on age and gender.  Teams are created based on the number of new players and the number of openings on existing teams.

Q. Can my child play up an age group?
A.  Yes, a child may play up one age division if permitted by the member association but this is rarely approved. Please keep in mind that asking to move up a division does not guarantee that the request will be granted unless the player is already established on an existing team.  Requests are approved based on division availability and the best interest of the competitive balance of the league. Age groups are determined by NTSSA Youth Age Chart. Note: A player cannot play down.

Q. When will practices be?
A.  Practice days, times, and locations are set by the coach of your team. The YMCA/GHCSA does not regulate when or where your team practices. However we:

  • Encourage coaches to hold all practices within the Greenville city limits unless there is 100% agreement from parents.
  • Encourage coaches to limit practices to 2 per week, &
  • Discourage Wednesday and Sunday practices since we represent a Christian organization.

Any conflicts on practices should be resolved with your coach. If no resolution can be reached, you may then appeal to the Soccer Advisory Committee.

Q. When and where are the games played?
A.  Most games will be played on Saturdays, however weekday games may be required.  U10 and below games are played at the Greenville Sports Park. U12 and up games are played in Greenville and surrounding towns. 

Q. When will I hear from our coach?
A.  Your child’s coach should contact you shortly after the pre-season coaches meeting which will be held in August.

Q. Who provides the uniform and the other soccer equipment?
A. Uniform jerseys are provided by the YMCA/GHCSA. The coach will hand them out at a practice prior to the first soccer game. The player must provide black shorts & black soccer socks. 

All Players must provide their own equipment.  You must purchase shin guards and the appropriate size soccer ball prior to your child’s first practice.  It is MANDATORY that shin guards be worn at all games and practices.  Soccer cleats are optional; baseball/football cleats with a toe-cleat or metal-cleats are NOT allowed.

Q. When will I find out when my first game is?
A.  Games will be posted on the YMCA Greater Hunt County Soccer website Schedules link once the schedule are completed and they will also be available in your GotSoccer account

Q. Is there a refund policy?
A.  The YMCA does not give refunds unless team does not make. 

Q. How will I know about rainouts?
A. All games being played in Greenville will be handled using the following procedure:
If a game is cancelled, the website will be updated to reflect the current information and the coaches will be immediately notified via email or phone. Decisions will attempt to be made by 7:00 a.m. on Saturday mornings. To sign up for immediate text and/or emails please submit your information through RainedOut.

Q. How many players play at one time?
A.  At U4, we start with 4v4 and increase up to 11v11 at the older age groups. Each child will play at least 50% of the game to ensure fair and equitable activity.

Q. Can I play soccer with another soccer organization?
A.  Yes, you can play with other organzations that are not affiliated with the North Texas Soccer Association, although since the YMCA/GHCSA is the NTSSA sanctioned provider for this area all players living in this area must register and play through the YMCA/GHCSA in order to play with/against other NTSSA organizations or in NTSSA sactioned tournaments.

Q. How can I coach?
A.  You can register to coach by completing an online coaching application. For more informatio you can go to the coaching link. Per NTSSA, All coaches must obtain a minimum of a level "G" Coaching Certification by the 2nd season they will be coaching the team. Coaching preference will be given to certified coaches. For more information on certifications and certification dates go to the NTTSA website.

Q. What special requests will the YMCA/GHCSA honor?
A.  a) A player is allowed to play with a sibling (provided they live in the same household and/or claimed on the same tax return).
     b) Play up one age group with committee aproval.
     c) A player can request NOT to return to their previous team.
     d) A player may return to the same team, if they have not skipped or sat out a season.   
     e) U4-U6 players ONLY can designate a buddy if they meet certain restriction.

Q. What are the Buddy Restrictions?
A. The Buddy Restrictions are: 

  • Buddy Draft is open to age divisions U4 through U6 ONLY (Age Chart)
  • Both players MUST fall within the same age division
  • Only ONE buddy may be requested per player (per season)
  • BOTH players MUST request each other in the buddy section of the registration form at the time of registration. If one buddy fails to make a reciprocal request, the request CANNOT be honored.
  • At least ONE of the two buddies can NEVER have played soccer for our association or ANY North Texas soccer association affiliated with NTSSA (All associations in North Texas are affiliated with NTSSA).
  • Both buddies will be drafted together to a new team.
  • The Buddy Draft deadline for each season is concurrent with the GENERAL registration, so no such requests may be made during the LATE registration period.
Failure to meet or agree with any and all of the guidelines above will result in buddy request not being able to be granted.

Q. Can I request a particular coaches, teams, and/or players for my child?
A. No, players cannot request particular coaches, teams, and/or players for their team unless you have a legal relationship with a player/coach or you have taken advantage of the buddy system. Documentation of legal relationship must be provided if requested. Without such documentation, requests cannot be granted. This is an NTSSA rule for recreational teams U4 & up therefore exceptions cannot be made.

Q. If I do not play a season, can I return the next season to my same team?
A. No. If a player skipped a season, he/she cannot return to the team they previously played on. They must be placed in the draft.
